  • Entry-Level Structural Engineer

    Location: Luray, VA or Roanoke, VA
    Salary: $62,000 - $72,000

Description

This is a first or second job out of school on a team small enough that you will see whole projects, not fragments of them. You will be assigned design and detailing work scaled to your experience, with licensed engineers at multiple experience levels available to train and mentor you.

We reimburse EIT and PE preparation and exam costs. We would rather grow an engineer than rent one.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in designing and developing plans and details for foundations, buildings, and structures.
  • Build structural models and project drawings in Revit and AutoCAD at SD, DD, and CD level.
  • Conduct site visits to inspect field conditions, gather data, and assess structural integrity.
  • Assist with technical reports, construction progress reports, shop drawings, material lists, and submittals.
  • Coordinate with architecture and the civil, environmental, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Take on design and project management responsibilities as you grow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on structural design.
  • Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, NDS, and ACI.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD - Revit strongly preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work on multiple projects at once.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT designation, or eligibility to sit for the FE exam.
  • Analysis and modeling in SkyCIV, RISA, or CSI products.
  • Internship or co-op experience in building structural engineering.
  • Bridge structures and construction engineering exposure.

Physical Requirements, Travel, and Schedule

  • Full-time, hybrid, based out of the Luray, VA or Roanoke, VA office.
  • Occasional site visits; ability to navigate uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.

Compensation

$62,000 - $72,000 per year, set by experience and licensure. Bonus opportunities are available, and EIT and PE preparation and exam costs are reimbursed.
